New Features

New Filters in the Editors and Reviewers Sections

We have added new filters in the Editors and Reviewers sections that allow you to narrow the data shown in your charts.

The Editor Role filter allows you to create charts that only show the Editor-in-Chief or the Associate Editors (Editors). This will allow you to highlight how people in different roles are performing.

The Editors filter allows you to create charts for a single editor or a group of editors. Now it is easier than ever to determine how well new editors are performing or to determine if a group of special-issue guest editors are performing differently from your staff editors.

Filters such as the Initial Decisions filter in the Time to Initial Recommendation/ Decision - from Editor Assignment in the Editors section, allows you to find out if it takes longer to reach a decision based on the type of initial decision the manuscript receives.

The Reviewer Role filter allows you to show just the Editorial Board Members' (EBM) reviewer performance or to create charts showing only the performance of your non-EBM reviewers.

The Reviewer ID filter in the Reviewers section will allow you to determine your top reviewers or create charts using data only from your top reviewers. Please note that for data privacy reasons, only the reviewers' id number is shown. To determine the reviewer's name, you will need to match the reviewer id number to the reviewer's contact information in your manuscript handling system. For more information on how to do this, please contact us via the chat tool.

Recently added new charts:

Time to Initial Recommendation/Decision - from Editor Assignment

This chart is found in the Editors section and shows the mean time it is taking manuscripts to reach the first decision. Unlike the Time to Initial Decision chart in the Decisions section, this chart does not include the time taken by the editorial office to check-in and make the editor assignment. Instead, the values shown on this chart only include the time taken by your editors and reviewers.

Time to Initial Recommendation/Decision - from Last Review Completed

This chart is found in the Editors section and shows the mean time from the last review submitted for the manuscript to the editor making the initial decision. This chart is the first step to digging deeper into the editor's performance. The mean (average) time taken is shown by time period. On the time period chart, you can see how this value has changed from year to year. The data is also displayed by editor. The editor chart allows you to see how the time taken varies between editors.

Time to final recommendation/decision - from editor assignment

This chart is found in the Editors section and shows the mean time from the date that the editor was assigned the original manuscript until the date the editor made the final decision for that manuscript. Unlike the Time to Final Decision chart in the Decisions section, this chart does not include the time taken by the editorial office to check in and make the editor assignment for the original manuscript. Note that it would include all subsequent Editorial Office check-in times for any revisions submitted.

Using the Editor Role Filter on the Time to Initial (Final) Recommendation/Decision Charts

The new Editor Role filter will allow you to only include the data for your Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editors (Editors); thus, these charts can be customized to show the data for people who make recommendations or for people who make decisions on the manuscripts.

Conversion Rate Charts

In the Reviewers section of Origin Reports, we have added conversion rate charts, which show how well individuals are responding to your journal's peer review invitations. We have three different types of conversion rate charts: Invited-to-Agreed Conversion Rate, Invited-to-Completed Conversion Rate, and Agreed-to-Completed Conversion Rate. These charts can help you detect trends before potential issues can have a significant impact on your peer review process. We invite you to read our most recent blog post to learn more about these informative charts and for suggestions on positively impacting your journal's conversion rate.
